Local Observations

February 2013

Waxwings – There are still Waxwings about and 40 have been in Crispin Lane, Wrexham on February 25 and 26. Most of their favourite red berries have been eaten by now and these were feeding on rose hips so keep a look out in your garden – you never know!’

Lapwings – ‘Lapwings are a favourite bird of mine so I was delighted to find a huge flock in fields at Milton Green. Last week I counted 2400 along with 1000 Starlings and 140 Pink-footed Geese. Today they were down to ‘only’ 800 with 600 Starlings. The geese had gone, presumably on their way back to their breeding grounds in Iceland.’
